Hampshire & Isle of Wight
Dolphin Project

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Dolphin Project is a new research project developed by Sussex Dolphin Project to learn more about the cetaceans found along the south coast.

The ultimate objective is to identify individual dolphins/pods, in order to better understand their behaviour, movement, prey species and breeding sites. This data can then be used to protect our marine environment and ultimately safeguard cetaceans in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The project is currently operating a first phase of landwatch data gathering to establish a baseline of understanding about cetaceans in local waters.

Following the completion of the first phase, the project partners will review the results and develop phase two of the project with the intention of encouraging cetacean sightings from members of the public.
